Latest Projects

Our most recent assignments include projects done for large corporate clients, and smaller companies in the Norwich and other UK areas. Our work for Impulse, an independent leisure centre, went beyond signs, to redesigning the interior space and reception area to make it more attractive to customers. Another ongoing example is Flybe, a corporation we fitted signage that was customized to match their luggage tags, and exterior signs using weatherproof vinyl and aluminium. The fitting and manufacture work we did for Aviva included a single, but effective, 7.1m raised illuminated work desk in major hub areas. Take a look for yourself to see what we could do for you:

PMT Portsmouth Custom Signs & Shop Fit

In 2010 Professional Music Technology (PMT) asked Gordon Signs & Interior Displays Ltd to help with their signage, shop fitting and internal displays. PMT are the UK’s largest musical instrument retailer who fit out each shop to reflect the diversities and quirkiness of the music industry.

In October 2017 they gained their central London store. Gordon Signs provided the shop signage which is common to all branches, but also made displays with rustic steel girders contrasting against very modern keyboard stands.

Since working with PMT Gordon Signs have continued to installed and develop custom signs and bespoke shop fit displays – all whilst being creative, thinking outside the box and being on brand. The designers are Gordon Signs like to go above and beyond typical conservative sign design, here you can see a ceiling mounted illuminated sign in the PMT Portsmouth branch celebrating 25 years of business.

With Gordon Signs anything is possible, from crates appearing to have dropped through the ceiling, illuminated secure guitar vaults for premium products to rustic floors creating an industrial feel.

For those looking to test out the gear, jam on a guitar or try out a set of drums sound booths have been created; whilst illuminated amplifier stands and unique drum stacks have been installed to display a large amount of stock in a small area.

PMT have always been a client that is fun to work with and demands a real ‘wow’ factor with everything made.

Norwich Airport Entrance, Totem & Welcome Signs

In 2016 the Rigby Group took over management of Norwich Airport, and asked Gordon Signs and Interior Displays to rebrand it by introducing new signage and custom fittings for their corporate department.

A new corporate identity was created and rolled out throughout the airport, Gordon Signs worked with the team at Rigby Group to create a cohesive business-like modern, clean fresh and inviting signage scheme throughout.

We used the existing steel frames of the previous signs and added new face panels so everything looked new but without a large expense.

The result was excellent and well received, it conveyed a feeling of reliability, presence and excitement as usually that summer break starts at the airport, so anything we can do to improve the experience has to be good.

Since this Norwich sign project we have worked at Birmingham, Bournemouth, Coventry airports and with Liverpool Airport rebrand set for 2018.

Newmarket Dental Surgery Entrance Sign

Newmarket Road Dental Surgery is a practice set in Norwich’s main artery road the A11 so all traffic coming from London direction has to pass it. The core of the business is the highly competitive cosmetic side but being in the residential and historic Newmarket Road means that the usual commercial signage cannot be used.

We needed to create something effective and simple that would not annoy the planners or the local residents. The result is a sign made from mirror polished stainless steel and glass effect panels that slightly glow with side illumination created with LED’s. The sign is subtle but oozes quality to reflect the service provided. Not only an advertisement but it helps customers see the practice from a distance as they travel down the busy road.

  • Project Duration :

6 Weeks from commission to installation.

  • Materials:

    Stainless Steel, Acrylic and LEDs

Cafe Como

Opening up a modern tea room in a town as historic as Lavenham is quite a challenge but making modern signage to compliment the modern interior but 17th Century neighbouring buildings took some thought. In the end we used simple lettering that was 20 mm thick to create simple signage that reflects the high quality of the cafe and does not look out of place in the historic setting.

  • Project Duration :

4 Weeks from commission to installation.

  • Materials:

Sponge

We knew we were going to have some fun with this one, the trouble was that the converted barn had nowhere to fit some good signage so we built a steel frame right across the windows and splashed our letters onto it. The letters we made from GRP and aluminium and intended to look like jam.

The entrance sign dripped over the canopy onto the timber letter box we made which just adds more fun to the fantastic product. Sponge as its name suggests makes highly desirable sponge cakes from natural ingredients and are sold all over the UK.

4 Weeks from commission to installation.

Roland & Red Dog Music Store

Red Dog music is Edinburgh’s biggest music shop being in the heart of the city with a footfall of not only musicians but tourists into their shop.

Roland are manufactures of piano’s, keyboards, amplifiers and drums so when the shop needed a makeover they designed an area specifically for their products. GS&ID work nationally with Roland refurbishing stores making displays and signage so were naturally appointed to carry out the refurbishment.

The old wall fittings were removed and the walls lined with a white high gloss finish wall board. We then fixed a brushed stainless silver that illuminates around the edges and has TV screens recessed into it. On the ends we fitted graphic panels with the history of Roland and their products. We made a large maple display desk for Boss effect pedals and lighting rigs to shine down on their digital drums.

Red Dog were overwhelmed by the result, it has made that whole area into another dimension and Roland were of course delighted with the increase in sales and awareness of their products.

  • Project Duration :5 Weeks from site visit to installation.
  • Materials :Dibond – Layered Aluminium, Vinyl Printing, Acrylic, Steel.

PMT Romford

Professional Music Technology is the UK’s biggest musical instrument retailer. Each branch is designed to have a similar feel but that is always to convey the excitement and energy that the music industry has.

The accommodation of their East London branch in Romford has a golden opportunity to showcase the companies diversity. The large space needed to create impact but be broken into different areas of disciplines. GS & ID produced acoustic guitar racks and signage using natural woods. We made a 3 x 2 meter crate that looked like it had dropped through the ceiling as a booth for guitar pedals and amplifiers.

We photographed some old brick wall and printed them out as a back drop for a stand for drums which we made with girders which had the brand name cut out. All of this plus of course the signage has set Professional Music Technology East London branch as a retail leader.

  • Project Duration :

3 Weeks from consultation to installation

  • Materials :

MDF, Aluminium, Perspex, Digital Print, Steel, LED lighting.
